This is a Free Walking Tour based on a pay-what-you-feel concept. There is no fixed tour price or advance payment: at the end of the experience, you decide how much the tour and your guide’s work were worth to you and contribute accordingly.
The walk covers approximately four to five kilometres at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops for stories, panoramic viewpoints and photo stops. Both routes have a duration of approximately 2 hours, follow the same pay-what-you-feel concept and offer the same quality of historical storytelling and valuable local recommendations. The follwoing two route options are available:
Old Town Loop – Route 1
This route remains within the historic Old Town and avoids the final hilly section leading towards the Marina, making it a slightly shorter and more comfortable option. The tour finishes in Albufeira’s vibrant Old Town Square.
No advance reservation is required for individuals or groups of up to four people. However, booking is recommended, as only registered guests will receive important updates concerning possible changes of time or cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances. Groups of five or more must book in advance.
This longer scenic route continues from the historic Old Town to the colourful Albufeira Marina, where the tour finishes.

These tours do not return to the original meeting point. Return transportation is not included. Your guide will also provide you recommendations on places enjoy at the marina or main square after the tour, transportation options available, and other places to visit or activities to experiences during your stay.

Meet your guide at the Pau da Bandeira Viewpoint, where you can enjoy one of the finest views over Albufeira’s Old Town and coastline.
Continue into the former castle citadel, where narrow streets and hidden corners preserve the character of old Albufeira. Listen to stories about the castle, local traditions, and significant events that shape the town. Your local guide will combine historical information with legends, personal insights and details that many visitors would otherwise miss.
Descend into the historic centre and walk through Albufeira’s lively pedestrian streets and main square. As you explore, hear how the town evolved from an ancient coastal settlement and traditional fishing community into one of the Algarve’s most recognised destinations.
From here, begin a scenic walk past several lookout points overlooking Fishermen’s Beach, the whitewashed town and the Atlantic Ocean. The tour then continues towards the western side of town, following a scenic route away from the busiest streets.
Choose Route 1 to loop within the Old town area and finish at the vibrant and lively Old Town Square, one of Albufeira’s main meeting points. Choose Route 2 to proceed towards Albufeira Marina and finish your experience beside the marina’s distinctive colourful buildings, waterfront cafés and boats.
Before saying goodbye, your guide will share recommendations for restaurants, local attractions, transportation options, and places worth visiting during the rest of your stay.
Throughout the tour, stop at more than seven viewpoints offering different perspectives over the beaches, Old Town and surrounding coastline. There will be plenty of opportunities to take panoramic photographs and appreciate the contrast between Albufeira’s historic centre and its dramatic coastal landscape.
This approximately two-hour experience covers around four to five kilometres and includes slopes, steps, cobbled streets and uneven surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.

Meet your guide at the Pau da Bandeira Viewpoint, overlooking Fishermen’s Beach and Albufeira Old Town.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time.
Your guide will be waiting in the main viewpoint area and will carry a clearly identifiable orange armband or branded item.

At the end of the tour, many guests choose to unwind at one of the Marina’s waterfront restaurants or lounges, continue their day with a boat or catamaran trip along the Algarve coast towards Benagil, or travel onwards to another part of Albufeira.
Please note that the tour does not return to the original meeting point. Your guide will provide directions for walking or using local transport after the tour.
Several onward transport options are available from or near Albufeira Marina, including the local Giro bus service and the Tourist Train towards the Old Town (subject to the operating timetable), Taxis, Uber or Bolt, and Tuk-tuks. Transport after the tour is not included, and service availability may vary.
